This month’s Fireside Chat will focus on Recreation in your Woods. As we transition from spring into the long, glorious days of summer, it’s the perfect time for forest stewards to enjoy the fruits of their labor and spend more time among the trees. Whether you prefer hiking, wandering, or simply sitting and soaking in the views, the season of recreation is here—and the days (and possibilities) are endless!
Join a trio of NNRG staff—foresters Barrett Gray and Chase Beyers, and program coordinator Lauren McCaskill—on June 18th for a lively conversation about summer fun in the forest! Chase will share his experience balancing forest management for both harvest and recreation, while Barrett and Lauren discuss the activities they get up to in the woods every summer.
Bring your favorite cozy (or cool!) beverage, swap stories, and share creative ways to make your woods a place of joy and connection this summer.
We look forward to chatting with you on Wednesday the 18th!

Come learn in the forest this spring! Join Northwest Natural Resource Group and the Nisqually Land Trust for an evening tour of the Brighton Creek Preserve, on Thursday, June 26 at 4:00pm. Together, we’ll explore this 224-acre forest in McKenna, WA managed for ecological health and wildlife habitat. Visit our registration page to learn more!
We hope you’ll join us for the monthly Forestry Happy Hour—now happening on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 4:30 – 6:00 PM!
The next Forestry Happy Hour will take place on June 24th. Meet us at Locust Cider Post Alley (on the steps near SAM) for a casual, no-host gathering of local forestry professionals—an opportunity to connect, share insights, and unwind with your peers in the forestry space.
Please extend the invite to colleagues who may be interested—all are welcome!
