A one day training seminar on NNRG's carbon offset program "NW Neutral".
Forests in the Pacific Northwest can play an important role in sequestering and storing atmospheric carbon dioxide. Through careful management and monitoring, forest owners and managers can position themselves to participate in emerging carbon offset markets and develop a residual income stream by selling the “ecosystem services” their forests provide.
The Northwest Natural Resource Group’s new carbon offset program, NW Neutral, assists small woodland owners with inventorying and monitoring carbon pools in their forests and connecting them with high value markets. This full-day training seminar, exclusively for members of Northwest Certified Forestry*, will introduce landowners to the carbon marketplace, how NW Neutral accounts for forest-based carbon offsets, and what kind of value can be expected by selling carbon offsets through NW Neutral.
Topics will include:
- Carbon markets 101
- Understanding baseline, additionality, permanence and other carbon offset criteria
- Developing a carbon profile for your forest
- Carbon contracts and other legal issues
- Carbon values in Pacific NW forests
- And more…
*This workshop is exclusively for members of Northwest Certified Forestry. If you are interested in joining the Northwest’s premier conservation-based forestry organization and learning about the exciting opportunities that carbon offset markets may hold for your forest, you can learn more about membership on-line at: http://www.nnrg.org/nw-certified-forestry/Membership.
