This full day workshop will introduce landowners to a series of management options, programs and market-based opportunities for optimizing the conservation value of their forestland.

Many small woodland owners in the Northwest are interested in the long-term conservation of their forests. Today there are a wide range of strategies, tools, markets and private and public programs that can help landowners generate income from their land while pro-tecting and enhancing its conservation values into the future.
This workshop will introduce landowners to a series of management options, programs and market-based opportunities for optimizing the conservation value of their forestland.
Topics to be covered will include:
- FSC certification & markets
- Ecological timber management options
- Improving wildlife habitat
- Current use taxation
- Working forest conservation easements
- State and federal conservation funding programs
Prior to the workshop, registrants will receive a copy of Northwest Certified Forestry’s new publication “Financing Stewardship For-estry: A Guide to Conservation-based Markets and Programs for Small Forest Landowners”. This guidebook provides an in-depth introduction to the various strategies, tools and programs available to conservation-minded small woodland owners.
Workshop attendees will also be eligible for a free two-hour site visit from Northwest Certified Forestry to discuss conservation-based for-est management options.
