This workshop series is designed to help farmers and forest landowners, and those interested in becoming farmers and/or forest landowners, build longevity and success with their resource businesses while protecting important natural assets using tools, trends and practices that have been demonstrated to work.  The project is also designed to build on existing buy local trends in the Snoqualmie Valley and develop new, experiential tourism ways to support Snoqualmie Valley farms and forests.

A series of four workshops have been developed to provide an integrated, hands-on approach to operating a successful and sustainable farm or forest. The holistic approach will combine stewardship, succession planning and marketing/ economic development that taps into trends in restoration, buy-local and experience-based tourism. Topics include: building healthy soil, water and habitat; forest inventories and management plans; Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) marketing; cost-share opportunities; incorporating stewardship into outreach and education; low-impact development (Natural Landscaping); marketing tools and how tourism and economic development trends can generate new revenue.

Four additional topic-intensive classes will be held in March, including farm and forest stewardship, succession planning and marketing.  Stay tuned for registration information!
