Four More Log Buyers FSC Certified

Three new mills have gotten FSC certified in the Northwest this spring - one in Oregon, two in Washington, and a Virginia based veneer mill has started an FSC alder program.

Three new mills have gotten FSC certified in the Northwest this spring - one in Oregon and two in Washington. We also report on a Virginia based veneer mill that has started an FSC alder program.

Washington Alder/Cascade Hardwood - The Washington Alder group recently certified two of their three hardwood mills, Washington Alder in Mt Vernon and Cascade Hardwood in Centralia (Note - We're willing to bet they'll certify the third, Port Angeles Hardwoods, when WADNR completes their FSC process on the 180,000 acre Olympic Experimental State Forest near Forks). Both mills are alder focused, but with maple programs. General inquiries can be made to Erik Metcalf, Log Buyer, at 360-740-5115 or email. More information is available online at www.buyalder.com.

Rough & Ready Lumber - This large log mill in Cave Junction, OR, near the California border, cuts Doug-fir and pine for timbers, dimension, and specialty markets. Contact President and Log Buyer Link Phillippii at 541-592-3116 or by email. More information is available at www.rrlumber.com.

International Veneer Company - This Virgina based veneer mill has been buying Northwest alder for many years and has started an FSC program. They maintain a concentration yard in Chehalis, or can arrange for on site loading. Make sure to work with West Coast Buyer Greg Franklin to understand specifications and/or to have your trees evaluated prior to harvesting. Greg can be reached at 757-570-2658 or by email. See www.ivcusa.com for more information.

in the marketplace and NCF group certification cut our
