Evergreen Land Trust - Deming, WAELT 1

Evergreen Ecoforestry is a program of the Evergreen Land Trust. ELT uses selective and low impact logging to limit ecosystem impacts while producing lumber and finished wood products. We steward over 200 acres of second growth forest upslope from the South Fork Nooksack River in Deming , WA .

Our forests are dominated by 50-80 year old hemlock, cedar and ELT 4Douglas-fir interspersed with stands of mature alder and maple. We focus our stewardship on maintaining slope stability, protecting riparian forests and stimulating the development of old forest conditions.ELT

Wood products from Evergreen's forests are found in projects across the Northwest and beyond. Product examples include cedar boardwalks, fir decking, alder paneling, maple trim and hemlock framing. Evergreen Ecoforestry is a project of the ELT, a non-profit organization supporting sustainable land and community stewardship. Larger custom orders are welcome.

Highgrove - Oakville, WAHG2
Located at the northern extent of the Willapa Hills in southwest Washington, High Grove is a small family forest. High Grove is primarily a young forest, with 24 of its 30 acres regenerating following a harvest in 1993 by the HG4previous owner.

With this young forest comes the natural diversity characteristic of disturbed sites. Within the replanted Douglas-fir, now 12' - 15' tall, emerge such trees as alder, cherry, cascara, big leaf maple, willow, cedar, HG3hemlock and grand fir. Colorful and fruitful shrubs abound in the understory, including: red flowering currant, red and blue elderberry, ocean spray, hazelnut, indian plum and wild rose.

High Grove's forests are managed for this diversity, finding wildlife, aesthetic and economic value in all elements of the environment. Forest farming and agroforestry typify the management regime applied to the forest, with such products as small diameter craft and construction wood, nursery plants, medicinals, firewood, venison and edible mushrooms being harvested from the site.

Outside of the natural forest environment, high value agroforestry plantations are being developed which include: bamboo, fruits and nuts, eastern timber trees, and native wildlife forage zones.

Tree Art & Tree Shepard Woods - Nisqually, WATS3

My husband Jerel and I practice ecological forestry to supply our business TreeArt with wood from TS1our Tree Shepherd Woods. By taking clues from the condition of individual trees and naturally occurring events it can be read which trees to remove, without impairing the forest’s path to Old Growth. While thinning these smaller trees, the trophy trees are left to support what the forest is becoming. From the lumber of our naturally selected-out Douglas-firs we will make you high-end furniture, designed to your unique taste.

The intention of TreeArt is to succeed at creating economic value from that which the forest can afford to give us. This is a first step in changing our culture’s use of the forest, rather than remodeling Nature to meet our un-realistic expectations. By being allowed to meet its own needs first, the forest will always be able to meet ours. Please visit our website to learn more about our forest and our products: www.TreeArt.info
